Ambiant Canada shares Transformation Of Matter
The new album “Transformation of Matter” comes out today, a little over a year since we last heard from Toronto based Graeme Nattress, aka The Polymusicon (@polymusicon). Graeme shared a few early concepts and segments of his latest work with me during recent months, so I had a sense of what he was up to and knew this latest album was going to be brilliant…
“Transformation of Matter” is delivered in 3 parts clocking in at just under an hour of mesmerizing, lush ambient soundscapes and generative sequencing which Graeme is a master at producing.
Part 1: starts with a slow burn atmospheric segment with sweeping pads and textural accents. The gentle flow of sequencing, drone of deep space tones and the sparkle of sound effects create an otherworldly atmosphere to set the stage for a mesmerizing journey.
Part 2: is a somewhat brighter track with stronger sequencing elements and flowing harmonic synthesizer voices. Percussion is introduced part way through the track, paired with a pulsing sequencer line to create movement and a trance inducing atmosphere. Frequent changes and variations in the sequencing, slowly evolving shifts in sonic textures, and the layering of heavy analogue synthesizer bass, sweeping pads and sound effect accents adds to the complexity and depth this track has to offer.
Part 1 (remix) is an extensive remix of the first track, accentuating and emphasizing the ambient textural elements without most of the sequencing. Graeme’s unique style and ability to craft long form ambient compositions shines through in this wonderful soundscape.
